Catina DeLuna

With a special repertoire based on lesser known Brazilian styles, Catina DeLuna has been performing in the top jazz venues in Southern California co-leading the Group “Lado B Brazilian Project”. A well-established Brazilian pianist, vocalist and composer, Catina has enjoyed a successful and varied musical career. Completing a BA in Brazilian Popular Music at the prestigious UNICAMP University in São Paulo and her MMA at Northern Illinois University, she founded two award winning musical groups in Brazil: the vocal group Arirê, acting as arranger, pianist and singer, and Serenata Brasileira, performing Brazilian songs from the 1920’s and 30’s, in full authentic costume and style. A popular performer and recording artist, Catina has toured Southeast Asia, Japan and the U.S. and has three independently released CDs available, Na Era de Ouro, from Serenata Brasileira, Brazilian Accent, her solo debut featuring classic Bossa Nova standards and most currently the 2017 Grammy award winning album Cantina DeLuna and Lado B Brazilian Project featuring her husband and collaborator, jazz pianist, Otmaro Ruiz.​
